Punta Leona, a New Costa Rica Real Estate Development, Announces 34-Suite Condominium at Beachfront Resort

Located on Central Pacific Coast About 90 Minutes From San Jose

PUNTA LEONA, Costa Rica--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Beach One Developments has announced plans for a new Costa Rica real estate development at Punta Leona, a private, gated beach club community located about 90 minutes southwest of San José (just north of Jacó). The high-end resort condominium project will introduce a new level of luxury and design to the area, which presently consists of an established community home to both Costa Ricans (Ticos), ex-patriots and internationals alike.

The condo, which will overlook one of the community’s two white-sand Bandera Azul (Blue Flag-rated) beaches will raise the bar in terms of the area’s amenities and services while providing much-desired access to both eco-tourism and authentic Tico culture. While many new developments attempt to manufacture -- or in some cases shut out -- the essence of Costa Rica, Punta Leona’s history and Costa Rican ownership lend to an authentic, cultural experience.

“Punta Leona’s history dates back nearly 30 years when our family discovered it during a fishing trip,” said Pablo Gordienko, son of Punta Leona founder Eugenio Gordienko. “Over time we created a resort and beach club that incorporated the best that Costa Rica has to offer. Now we look forward to evolving into an international resort community while respecting the current traditions and membership of Punta Leona.”

While being private, gated and exclusive in its offerings, the inclusive convenience of the destination will appeal to families and empty-nesters. Punta Leona’s most distinguishing characteristic is its two white sand beaches, one of which, Playa Blanca (White Beach), was recently awarded the only Four Star Blue Flag for its ecological preservation in Costa Rica. Protected by the Nicoya Gulf, turquoise waters stay warm year-round create finest swimming beaches in the country.

Among the many amenities to be found are: walking paths through the jungle, resident naturalist expert and guide, a zip line tour of the jungle canopy, large resort pools, restaurants, barbecue areas, a pool/beach bar, internet café, butterfly farm, and a kids activity center.

Additional amenities are located nearby, including championship golf at Los Suenos, sport fishing charters, ATV tours, surfing at Hermosa beach, shopping and nightlife in Jaco. Owners will also have the opportunity to participate in a rental program for when their property is not in use. It will be managed by Hotel Punta Leona, which currently operates at near full occupancy throughout much of the year.

The project’s overall architecture and design will take on a Spanish Colonial style while also drawing inspiration from the natural surroundings. South Florida’s Garcia Stromberg Architecture, known for its work on communities such as the Floridian, Boca Beach Club and Playa Conchal, has been commissioned to create the master plan—which will ensure a cohesive aesthetic; balance/maximize privacy and access to and views of the jungle and beaches; and employ sustainable, eco-friendly building practices. The look, feel and reality of the resort will be true to the landscape and culture to create a authentic sense of place.

A total of 34 units will be offered in the first release. One-, two- and three-bedroom properties and a select few penthouse suites will range from approximately 800 to more than 2,000 square feet. Prices will begin from the $200,000s. Financing will also be available.

Sales are set to launch in March 2007 and construction is scheduled to begin fall 2007.

Punta Leona’s development partners are committed to the preservation of the natural ecology. The Gordienko family has always taken a strong stance on social responsibility, including the implementation of a Scarlet Macaw nesting program. Ten years ago, when the local macaw population began to decline at an alarming rate, Punta Leona participated in building artificial nests in a protected area adjacent to the community. Since then the local Scarlet Macaw population has doubled, and now is intermingling and breeding with flocks outside of the area.
