Scott Bowers

A naturalized Costa Rican citizen originally from the United States, I have called Costa Rica home since 2001. What began as a professional assignment to broker the sale of one of the country's premier private universities to a publicly held American education company quickly became a lifelong commitment to this remarkable country.

Today, I combine more than two decades of firsthand experience living, investing, and working in Costa Rica with a professional background that includes law, business valuation, mergers and acquisitions, and international real estate. My goal is simple: help clients make informed decisions and avoid the costly mistakes that often accompany buying property in a foreign country.

Before entering real estate, I practiced corporate and tax law in North and South Carolina and worked extensively in business valuation and M&A transactions. That background continues to benefit my clients today, particularly when evaluating investment properties, development opportunities, commercial assets, and complex transactions.

Since joining Coldwell Banker in 2015, I have specialized in Costa Rica's Southern Zone, including both the mountain communities of Pérez Zeledón and the coastal markets of Dominical, Uvita, and Ojochal.

One of the unique advantages I offer is a balanced perspective on two very different Costa Rica lifestyles. I live in the mountains of Pérez Zeledón but regularly work throughout the coast, allowing me to help clients determine not just which property is right for them, but which lifestyle is right for them. In many cases, that distinction proves more important than the property itself.

In addition to real estate brokerage, I provide relocation consulting and personalized exploratory tours for individuals and families considering a move to Costa Rica. Having spent years helping expats navigate the transition, I understand that purchasing property is often only one part of a much larger life decision.

My wife, Liliana, originally from Colombia and now also a Costa Rican citizen, and I married in 2009 and share seven grown children. Outside of real estate, I enjoy surfing, hiking, writing, and exploring the incredible natural beauty of Costa Rica.

I am a member of the Costa Rica Global Association of Realtors (CRGAR) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR), and I hold the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation as well as the Coldwell Banker Global Luxury certification. I was recognized as a member of the Coldwell Banker Diamond Society in 2021 and 2022 and the Sterling Society in 2023, 2024, and 2025, honors reserved for top-producing Coldwell Banker agents worldwide.
