Choosing Costa Rica for a Slower-Paced Life

If you are interested in a slower-paced lifestyle, Costa Rica is an excellent place to go, especially outside of San Jose. One of the many benefits is a relaxing and peaceful lifestyle like none other. With Costa Rica being such a laid-back place, the people consider being “on time” as showing up 30 minutes to one hour late.

Unfortunately, many expats from the United States get frustrated when Costa Ricans are late. To the Ticos, which is a name for native Costa Ricans, it is not necessarily about being rude, just refusing on principle not to rush. After all, when on a gorgeous island, why would anyone be in a hurry?

Sadly, people from all over the world have grown so accustomed to rushing that they have missed many incredible opportunities. Worse yet, people become angry and even go into full-blown tirades if someone causes them to be late. This is something that plays out every day in the United States, with road rage being a prime example. Instead of people being calm, their emotions go from 0 to 60 in a split second. In some cases, people actually die…all because of rushing.

In the southern zone of Costa Rica, things are quite different. The people who live in this country move slower while taking everything in. Even the Costanera (coastal highway), which measures 30 kilometers long going from Quepos to Dominical, took 100 years to pave.

People who live in Costa Rica, whether native Ticos or those who have moved there from another country, agree that living in a place like New York City or Chicago would be a nightmare. Although many people do enjoy the hustle and bustle of the big city, if you are interested in a slower lifestyle, the noise and chaos are frightening. In addition to noise from construction, traffic, and sirens, the streets are continually clogged with trains, cars, buses, and lots of people. Many of those people have never just stopped to take a breath.

To get away from the rat race, Costa Rica is a perfect destination choice. Once there, you will immediately recognize a semblance of sanity. Even if you visit for a short period of time, you will find yourself feeling refreshed and rejuvenated by the simple and easy life. Of course, you might be like others who have traveled to Costa Rica for vacation only to return as a resident or a real estate investor.

Instead of living every day in a hurry, which causes tremendous stress, perhaps it is time for you to head to Costa Rica, where you can slow down and enjoy life to the fullest. This might be the ideal time to get out of the rat race by investing some money and time in Costa Rican property.
