Successful tourism industry triggers foreign investment in Costa Rica hotels

Thanks to the country’s flourishing tourism industry there has been a significant increase in foreign investment principally in acquisition and development of Costa Rica hotels.




In August, the Costa Rica Tourism Institute announced a 6.5% increase in tourism arrivals for the first six months of 2011 compared to the same period of time in 2011. Furthermore, Liberia International Airport experienced an increase of 27% in the first trimester of the year. By all indications the Costa Rica tourism industry is performing well and this has given rise to significant investment in Costa Rica hotels.




Liberia Airport services the region of Guanacaste, home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Such is its attractiveness as a luxury beach and sun vacation destination the hotel Bvlgari announced that it will open one of its resorts in 2012 in this region. This $100 million hotel investment will incorporate 60 rooms and 30 villas in a fantastic complex in Papagayo.




It comes as little surprise that Costa Rica was also rated as the best place in Central America and the Caribbean to attract direct foreign investment. In a study carried out by the prestigious Financial Times Costa Rica was recognized as country that has continually attracted investment since 2003.




Compared to the U.S and European real estate markets property prices have remained stable in Costa Rica. This stability has helped to attract significant investment in terms of Costa Rica hotels and the rest of the tourism industry.
