Dominical Welcomes New Luxury Hotel Kalon Surf
Costa Rica is now home to a new Kalon Surf hotel, situated just 10 minutes from Playa Dominical. Kalon Surf, the world renowned luxury surf school and resort has been featured in Forbes magazine and is known for its spectacular surface. The company's new Costa Rica location is located only 20 minutes from Manuel Antonio and is a two-hour drive from the capital. As a result, the new Kalon Surf hotel is situated within convenient access of some of the most spectacular beaches on Costa Rica's coastline, including Playa Dominical, Playa Hermosa, and Playa Linda. Nestled 1,200 feet above sea level, the hotel offers spectacular sunset views over the Pacific coast and provides surfers of all experience levels the best surf conditions that Costa Rica has to offer.

The boutique luxury hotel Kalon surf boasts an exotic atmosphere that will immediately put guests at ease. Featuring deluxe common rooms as well as cozy guest rooms, the new resort is surrounded by more than six acres of unspoiled primal rainforest traversed by jungle trails. From those trails, guests are able to enjoy spectacular wildlife viewing of such animals as howler monkeys, toucans, white-faced monkeys, and other indigenous wildlife. While Kalon Surf has developed a reputation for a unique atmosphere, the hotel also exceeds expectations when it comes to quality service. In order to ensure that the needs of every guest are met, the hotel only accepts ten guests on a weekly basis. As a result, the owners of the hotel, Kjeld Schigt and Silene Vega Delgado are able to provide their guests with completely personalized service and surf instruction.

At Kalon Surf, guests are able to enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The myriad of services combined with an exclusive, tranquil setting allows guests to focus on developing their surf skills in a completely supportive environment. The hotel makes a point to cater to international guests who have a true passion for surfing, whether they are beginners or at a more advanced level. At Kalon Surf, guests can take advantage of customized instruction, the opportunity to make new friends, and enjoy the adventure that surfing can bring without any distractions.
Since Schigt and Delgado abandoned their corporate careers to begin their own business in 2011, Kalon Surf has grown exponentially. In less than three years, the hotel has received a wealth of international press coverage, including CNN, Vogue, Forbes, The Huffington Post, and Executive Travel. The couple's newest property was designed specifically based on feedback received from their guests. While the company is expanding, the latest resort is not losing the focus on individual guests that has made Kalon Surf such a runaway success.
The new hotel was designed by renowned Costa Rican architects Carolina Adolfo Mejia and Vargas. At the heart of the plan was to create a boutique hotel that would be one-of-a-kind. Through the use of rustic materials, ample windows, and the inclusion of natural surroundings, the Bali-style mansion boasts a distinctive Costa Rican interpretation. The final investment for hotel came in at just under $1.5 million.

When guests first make contact with the hotel, their unique Kalon Surf experience begins. Whether the guests contacts the hotel by chat, phone, or email, the hotel owners typically respond to guest inquiries within two hours. While immediately attempting to gain as much personalized information as possible, the owners of the hotel work to make the guest's stay as memorable as possible. Guests are cared for from the moment of their arrival at the airport until the moment they depart the hotel. One of the features that set the hotel apart is that guests are provided with access to their own private mobile concierge upon confirmation of their reservation. This will allow guests to review their itinerary, including surf times, while also providing information about food preferences and other important information. This feature allows the owners of the hotel to prepare for the stay of guests in a manner that will reflect their ideal getaway.

The hotel operates comfy SUVs that transport guests from the hotel to the resort. As part of the all-inclusive package, guests are able to attend five customized surf lessons that last as long as four hours each. Instruction is customized to the guest's current level of experience. All surf instructors are locals who are completely familiar with the beaches in Dominical. Additionally, all surf instructors at Kalon are trained as American Red Cross lifeguards.

Lessons may be extensive, but there are ample opportunities to relax and unwind at Kalon. Each guest is provided with complimentary massages to assist in relaxing sore muscles as well as the chance to join Pilates classes. Also onsite is an infinity pool as well as the private jungle trail that provides plenty of time for relaxation and reflection.
When it comes to cuisine, Kalon excels there, as well. Through the employment of a private chef, the resort is able to dish up fabulous gourmet meals based on the preferences of guests. Only fresh organic ingredients, many of which are grown in the resort's own fruit and vegetable garden, are used in the dishes served at Kalon.

At the end of their stay, guests are transported to the airport. Later, they receive videos and shots from their surf sessions via email.
